Well that's the biggest "unexpected detail" I ever saw... Courtesy of @gnjohnson06 the Perot Museum at Victory Park, a Thom Mayne design that "features a 54-foot, continuous-flow escalator contained in a 150-foot, glass-enclosed, tube-like structure...an unexpected detail typical of Mayne's exuberant style". Heavens. Historically, Dallas' Uptown was home to working-class neighborhoods such as Little Mexico and Freedmen's Town. The city slapped a "blighted area" label on it in the early 2000s, plans were quickly scribbled by legions of "new urbanists", and voila! Buckhead 2.0. It's all in the unexpected details. #history #historicpreservation #architecture #modern #dallas #texas via Instagram http://ift.tt/1JkKHbj
