Sacsayhuamán, Peru -- First occupied by the Killike culture as early as 900CE, the hilltop fortress was expanded upon by the Inca around the 13th century. The complex was built out of giant river cobbles that had been dragged from quarries using ropes and hundreds of men. The stones were roughly cut before leaving the quarries and then sculpted more precisely on-site so that they fit together tightly without mortar. #Saksaywaman #sacsayhuaman #cusco #peru #inca #empire #incan #ancient #history #unesco #worldheritage #travel #igtravel #travelgram #travelblog #latergram by arwisman
