note to a person i thought i was in love with: you showed me the beauty of the sunset and the way the sky fades from golden to black, the stage curtains being drawn on the day. and i thought it was the most beautiful thing i'd ever seen. you showed me the way the ocean waves lapped at the sand and i thought the gentleness of the sea was the greatest thing i would ever witness. you showed me the spring bloom, the way the flowers opened themselves up to the sun and let me dance in the watercolor meadow until my calves smelled of pollen an my jeans were stained golden. and i thought it was beautiful because you told me so. then i discovered the way the sunlight bled across the sky in the morning like a monet an brought the world to life like a conductor of natures orchestra. and i knew it was the most beautiful thing i'd seen. i watched the waves beat against the cliffs and felt poisedon's wrath in the spray that smattered my cheeks and knew it was the greatest thin i'd ever witnessed. i went to the same meadow when the petals were drooping and the grass was yellowing, an u danced as the rain beat down on me until wrinkled petals clung to my calves and water plastered my shirt to my skin. and i knew it was beautiful because i told myself it was. - - #york #yorkminster #cathedral #yorkcathedral #wanderlust #visitengland #travel by i.havetogogh
